    dAPDOS-XT: Wow!

I've been using this skin for about a week, and all I can say is "Wow!" It has rekindled my love for dbPowerAMP because of how cool it is. The XT IRL feature is cool (albeit fairly useless). The real coolness lies in how it looks. I never used the mini on screen controls, because they never looked good or could be placed right. This mini control in this skin is perfect. It is very small, very good looking, and packed with a lot of options. Plus, it fits very nice in the status bar of Internet Explorer!

The pop-up display is also very nice (cellphone-ish, if I can say that).

All in all, the best skin I have ever used in any program! Not only does it look much better than all the others, it adds features!

I think this skin is awesome too. Ido have a problem with it, however. The print looks like it is in some middle European language (not that I have anything against middle Europeans or their languages save for my inability to read or understand them).
Could it be that I am lacking a needed font or something?

Otherwise, I really like this skin-especialy the second mini control panel.

    best wishes,
    Bill Mikkelsen

I'm flattered beyond words, but thank you... :supersmil really happy it is enjoyed.
(And I really appreciate feedback on what is liked and not liked - for future skins - requests are taken under serious consideration :supersmil ).

To Bill, I'm not entirely sure I understand the problem, but if it is so bad you cannot read anything of the texts you probably need to download the latest dAP beta (11 I think). The font image handling (not windows fonts) was redone by Spoon on my request to include 16 missing characters and that affected dAP.

Yeah, I couldn't read the words on WindAP until I downloaded the 10a beta, that fixed it.

BTW - The only feature dAPDOS-XT is missing is the ability to be played in DOS :D

Heh, DOS playback would be wild...

I really like how all the buttons are packed into the mini display, but avoid cluttering it (the SPOON thing on the left is ingenious!). The only thing I end up needing the main amp or pop-up display for is to close the program.

Yes... playing in DOS, hence the XT IRL emulation, to give the younger guys here a hint what some of us have lived through...

I'm just getting around to investigate this skin. very nicely done by the way

there is one problem or maybe just me? in the bew version dAPDOS-XTv2

if i press the mini ctrl unit to off and then hover over the tray ctrl to bring up the remote(cool) it also brings up the mini ctrl unit which then has to be swithed off manually again after the remote tray goes down.

              not a major issue though.

also was there an info file supplied with the install?

I have also noticed that the scope in ctrl panel delux is initialy displayed above where the scope should be. but this is only seen when you intially launch the delux panel and drag it down. but after clicking scope twice in the panel it all comes good then.

once again it's not a major issue, but just making sure your seeing what i am seeing. perhaps it was a limitation in the skin designer when you made the skin?

                  Hi Razgo,

Happy you enjoy the skin. The little oddities I've noticed too, but I don't have any remedy for them. There are quite a few that I have noticed, and I have reported most of them to Spoon I think, but I guess they are nasty ones to handle.
The reappearence of deactivated units when passing over the tray ctrl can be particularly annoying I think, but it can be helped by opening the skin in the skin designer and removing the 3 bottom buttons (right click and delete). This makes it uncontrolable from the tray ctrl, but less annoying.

About the skin part not staying in place there is no way I've found to handle this either. Probably has to do with the "magnetic" properties that has to be with an extra skin part that has been mounted ontop of another skin? (Dunno')

BTW the new skin site is really GREAT I think! Slightly difficult to get to the display of all skins however, but otherwise GREAT!
COOL to have the dAPDOS-XT being the featured skin, even if won by coin flipping:happy:

Oh and NO info file attached. I've no idea at all about these things, how to make them or to include in the install. I have thought about it particularly on the BestRipCDRed, that can probably be rather difficult to understand (I've come to realize) and find how all the functions of it work. It was my first skin ever and I had very little comparison with other skins, had not even seen winamp! (at least when I started).
I've worked in PhotoShop for more than 10 years (in a rather narrow use of all it's possibilities) and took the skinning thing for a challenge to explore as much as I could of all of it's other features... and wow what a program it is!!! ...but HTML and whatever other new(?) stuff... I'm stupidity personified:happy:

as far as the mini ctrl panel appearing after hovering over the tray it wasn't an annoyance but rather just an observasion. but considering the complexity of the skin you did very well.

currently on the new skin site the downloads are set to display 10 per page. is that what you meant?

to concerve on bandwidht there arn't many pics but just the thumbnail then one larger view. i was thinking perhaps whichever skin ends up in the weekly feature then extra pics could be shown for that skin for that week. to offset the lack of pics i was hoping to put in time to write comments/reviews for each skin.

the coin flip was an off the cuff thing to do because the voting idea didn't work out.

I think perhaps we should create a criteria/standard that a skin has to meet to be alleagable for the weekly entry. and then have each entry judged on each point that the skinner acheived. i dunno just some thoughts there.

to include a file with the install just look at the "create install" options after you click "create install". you will see an option to click "set" and select a pre written txt file for inclusion.

unfortunately Spoon still needs to make the txt file install with the skin as well. at the moment it stores the txt file in windows temp directory. so if you don't read the install text file straight away you have to go find it in windows temp directory.

                      Spoon?? hmmmmm.......

well your PhotoShop skills have shined through! keep up the good work

I think i am going senile? i just checked the skin site and your dAPDOS-XTv2 isn't there. i can't remember how i got it now? anyhow I assume this is the new compiled version to replace the existing dAPDOS-XT skin?

I... have been annoyed about the involuntary reappearance of newly removed parts

                          On skin site...
No, what I meant was that the full list is not available until after searching out 2 or 3 screens and the small text "(dot) skins" is the only lead in to display all skins... I think it well could have just about as big a pushbutton as the Download Skins - button... This may make it difficult for some newbees to find the skins I thought... all aren't perhaps very eager to really look and explore all parts of the site and might miss that there ARE more skins...

I really agree with your thoughts that there should be a "staff" function around deciding about the priorities of displaying different skins... Having looked at the winamp ( ) skin site I think their model of handling seems great... the "Top Staff Rated" search possibility is some kind of quality reference and serves well along with the "Top User Rated" I think... personally...

Thank you for your encouragement, the new site has done its part in that too. Just wonder how many of the guys using the dAPDOS skin that has seen its windows announcement and found the buttons in it
Is there a reason the 20 EQ version did not get published now?

don't know about the 20 version... I have it here but I have not submitted any of my skins for the new site. Thought it was Spoon that reposted the ones he had already...

lol, i'm just asking myself that now.

so they are 2 seperate version for download? or only keep one?
