    special characters support?

    Hi,

just upgraded to the new version of dbpoweramp 13 and installed the dAP.

My very first problems with that program popped up after some seconds.

First there are no/wrong/rewritten characters in the playlist of special characters like é (Coté is shown as Coti), not to speak of chinese characters.

Even worse - in the Music Collection list a mp3 file with the filename like this: "01 音軌 01.mp3" will show up as "01 ?? 01" with 0kb in size and 0:00 min in length and other information missing. The file will be shown and played in e.g. winamp without a problem. Also dbpoweramp Edit ID-Tag will show the characters perfectly ok.

It's one thing that there is a problem with displaying the characters correctly, but another that the files are listed with 0kb in size and lenght?!

    dAP doesn't support Unicode characters.
Also, you can't have dMC r12 and above installed to the same directory as dAP. See here: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/legacy-compatibility.htm. That's why it's showing the files as 0kb

There is a remedy though. You can change all the caracters to the normal latin ones, and then all of a sudden all files appear and you can do whatever you like with them. Happened to me with brazilian, spanish and french songs with special letters in their titles. Strange it is though that happily enough I can work with greek songtitles without any problem, though greek characters are all special. Don't know why, I just report it.

Does the Beta of dAP r.3 support special characters?
Also, can I install dAP r.2 and dAP r.3 simultaneously? (on Win XP OS)

What about installing r2 and r3 Beta together?

Also, is there a way to "trick" dAp into playing tracks with special characters in the names, or would I have to rename all of them?

            Thanks.

dAP is not unicode aware, so renaming is the only option.
