Dbpoweramp Displays Inaccurate track number's and Year

I run dbpoweramp v2.0 and nave noticed it now reads the track numbers and years incorrectly, incrementally.

so now tracks 1-10's read as 2,4,6-20. I tried to uninstall and reinstall and also even removing the Illustrate folder after uninstall and before reinstall as to not pick back up the playlist etc. Now tracks 1-10 read 4,8,12,16....40.

I have attached a link to a photo showing essentially this.

Thats the explorer view of things

This is the dbpoweramp view of things

I know in DBpoweramp if you add songs, it goes through your entire list, but files previously added are 'skipped' because they have already been tagged.

example, 500 songs in Dbpoweramp music collection, you now have 514 songs, you add your directory, zoom, it passes the previous 500 quickly, and the last 14 it writes into DBpoweramps DB file or however it handles tracking.

Well it seems like to me in my mind, when this is happening, its appending the id3 info to the file, rather then updating, thus on my pic seeing the title artist, etc these 4 times, which explains why it keeps stepping the tracks in this way.

Is there a way to clear this, or must I wait for a new release, or even use the older version of dbpoweramp?

What version of dMC do you have installed? Have you tried the r3 beta of dAP?

      Its dbpoweramp-r2, not the dmc.

Try the dAP r3 beta then, see if that helps.
dAP, by the way, is the dBpoweramp audio player.

          To add a few thoughts:
It sounds as though you have been using dAP for awhile and that this problem is relatively recent. Is this true? Are you having this problem with only some tracks or do all tracks seem to be mis-labelled? What program(s) are being used to rip and tag these tracks?

While I do not know for sure what might be causing your problem, the answers to the above might help. My own guesses would tend to be either dAP and dMC r12 or later are installed in the same folder (although I think this would result in bigger problems than this), or that there is a problem with tagging, since MMC is very reliant upon having correct tag information.

You can correct incorrect tag information in dAP by using the right-click edit tag feature. You may find it easier to add tracks to MMC by adding the files after ripping. With dAP and versions of Music Converter prior to r12, it was possible to ask dMC to automatically add tracks to MMC, but I believe that this is currently not an option with dMC r12 or later.

I would also second LtData's recommendation to switch to the dAP r3beta6 release of dAP from the beta section. In my experience, it is more stable and generally performs better than the r2 version of dAP you are currently using. I am not sure whether this switch, in and of itself, will resolve the problem you are describing.

          I hope this helps.
          Best wishes,
          Bill

First off, how would I go about getting on the beta team to test DAP r3?

Secondly, im sure you will be glad to know, I have used DAP for some time now, 3+ years with this problem only being recent. I have used winamp in the past and through several versions and never satisfied with winamp. Primarily because I'm a sort of neat freak and also a IT guy myself. So I like things to work properly and winamp has a very bad problem for not updating its DB file. So if a mp3 file ID3 tag is rewritten, you can still search on the old values prior to updating, which for me is annoying because thats why I clean my mp3's to have accurate info to begin with. The cure to this is to rewrite the ID3's then delete the winamp db file and readd all music. Several releases of winamp, and this was always the way to fix this problem, so onward to a better player. Thus came along dbpoweramp.

Dbpoweramp does almost all of what I would want it to. (Although under selective play having a ALBUM tab would be nice, *Hint Hint r3 programmers*
But up until recently it has worked great and I recommend DAP to all my freinds who listen to music.....

Moving forward. I never discussed OS, I do run Win XP SP2 still, and as far as ID3 tag editors, I use Fixtunes v4.6 and also have installed but rarely use Mp3 Tag Tools v1.2.

Lastly, I know about the ID3 tag rewrite but DAP is doing this to all track numbers and my collection is well over 10k songs and thats just alot of freaking work to update each one.

Re: Dbpoweramp Displays Inaccurate track number's and Year

Primarily I asked about the relatively recent onset as a means for possibly triggering anything that might have changed with either your OS, your dB programs, or something else in your system that might have helped trigger this problem.

LtData in his earlier posts has a link for the dAP r3beta. All you have to do is install it. This has been out in its current version (r3 beta6) for a few years now.

As you probably know (but what I will mention now, in case you don't) is that if you edit a tag after adding it to MMC, unless you use the dAP tag editor dAP will not recognize the changes to the tag. If you have done so, it would be more convenient to remove these files from MMC and re-add them. This has been my experience at any rate. It should go like this: if you have added the file to MMC and then used a tag editor external to dMC to edit the tag, simply remove the file(s) in question from MMC and re-add them later (I would recommend closing dAP and MMC and re-opening before adding the file(s) again but I am not sure this is necessary). If you have other files in MMC whose tags you want to edit using an external tag editor, remove the files from MMC, edit the tags and re-add. Ideally you would make sure your tags are properly edited before adding to dAP.

However, what all this leaves unanswered is why these discrepencies are occurring in the first place. Are you using dMC (dBpoweramp Music Converter) for ripping/converting files before adding them to MMC? If so, are you using r12 or later of dMC or r11.5 or earlier?

              Best wishes,
              Bill

although i can't view the images now, i had the same problem when song names (or file names, i can't remember) contained foreign letters in its name (like german/french ê, é, etc.)

hope that helps if you want to replicate the error.
