newbie cant control playlist

I've been a system admin for years. but I've not used music players before ( being that I've run sound for bands for years - before I started running computers - digital music is too 'crispy' sounding for my ears usually) But I've bit the bullet & jumped in with both feet - this is excellent software!!!...

Here's my question - apologize if it shows me being a stoopidhead - lets say I add 10 songs to a playlist. then, after 2 songs, I want to hear something else. Try as I might, I can't tell dBpowerAMP to stop & start again. - I can't 'clear' the playlist. There seems to be no DELETE choice in the Paylist Editor. It looks like I might be able to use the My Music Collection to control this, slightly. BUT - not so much - there's ONLY a choice to clear ALL en-queued musc. Why can't I de-queue only the stuff I want?

I've even shut down everything, and after a reboot, the WHOLE damn playlist starts up where it left off. Where can I say STOP - play that over there???

If you want to use the queue, one of the member here, donny, wrote a utility that will give you total control over the queue via his tool: QueMaster http://quemaster.com/

As for why dAP starts playing the playlist from the beginningg, I believe this is how the playlist function was meant to work.

so - it's true I can't just do a "Delete from Playlist" kind of thingy - without QueMaster? - that software sounds superb, I will DL it immediately. It's just SO frustrating, to shut dBpowerAMP down (out of frustration/anger) only to get the same DARN song playing again after I start it up again...

Am I to understand - sorry for asking for such blatant obviousness - that there's just NO control built in to MAKE IT STOP MAKE IT STOP MAKE IT STOP????? I'm just trying to not be a blithering newbie. Say queued up 12 Thelonius Monk songs & after 2 I'd rather hear Pat Metheny or Frank Zappa - use QueMaster?????

Alternatively if you launch the My Music Collection application you can clear the queue that appears in the bottom section by right clicking on it.

Unfortunately, if you queued up 12 songs and then don't want to hear them, you'd have to clear the queue or use QueMaster to remove those songs, yes.

Buttons like Move up, Move Down, Delete.. can't they be added to the section where the current queued songs are listed in MMC?

Currently you cannot do this with dAP but QueMaster will allow you to do this with dAP. Perhaps dAP may be eventually updated to do this on its own but that would be up to Spoon.

the thing with dbpoweramp is like this:
forget playlists
you have your collection - all of you music, or alternatively separate collections. it's like having all of your music in a giant jukebox and select whatever you want. dap selects it acording to ratings, amount of play of songs etc (no I don;t know all the details).
plus you can adda few songs you want to hear next to the queue. when the queue is empty we go back to random playing.

so a total usage of the options given by big hard drives and pc to play music.

of course the problem is that there is no good control of the queue built in. and the development is kinda stuck for a while, so I don't know when there will be anything new.
alternative is to use the QueMaster that I wrote, which gives pretty good control. or so I hope. If you have problems with it, feel free to ask. if you have ideas maybe they can be added.

we tried to make some review of players over at aussie comunitiy, (the dap fanclub), and although that project is going slowly it seems that there are no other players that offer this. they all rely on playlists. winamp at least has the queue option now... but it still isn't what you can get here...
