audio player will only play the default codecs

hi, i'm a new user. i have downloaded the music converter, cd ripper, audio player, codec ref, monkey audio, apple lossless and mp4. the cd ripper lists the codecs i downloaded. i ripped some songs using monkey audio and they seemed to rip ok. 'my music collection' of the player won't recognized the monkey music or bring it up to play (it will play old mp3 music that was already on the computer before i downloaded dbpoweramp). all default codecs on multiplayer menu seem to be working ok, but i don't get anything when i try to select the codec tab to see if my downloaded codecs made it to the player. any ideas?

also.......so far i haven't had to pay for anything. is all this stuff free? maybe that's my problem..........i probably conveniently 'missed' the payment part of your download. lol

    thanks for any help

did you download the latest release of the Music Converter r12.2?

If so you have to ensure that you do not install the audio player into the same location. Also the audio player uses the legacy codecs available of this page http://www.dbpoweramp.com/legacy/cod...ral-legacy.htm and not those that you need for release 12.2 of the Music Converter.

See here http://www.dbpoweramp.com/legacy-compatibility.htm for further details.

      Wayne,
Thanks for your help. I think I did exactly what you described. Here's what I think I need to do fix the problem: 1. uninstall the db player. 2. reinstall db player, but to a different file location than the db converter. 3. download lossless codecs from legacy page that you sent me (download these codecs to the dp player location). Does that sound right to you?
Also, do I have to pay anyone for all the db software I been downloading? I feel like I'm ripping these people off. I also plan to try Sveta software for ripping direct to ipod ( I think I read somewhere that there is a fee for that one).
      Thanks again.

dMC without mp3 encoding is free, as is dAP, but if you purchase the PowerPack and mp3 encoder, you get some enchancements to dMC (and dAP, I believe, but only if the dMC r11.5 PowerPack is installed to the same location as dAP).
Sveta and the CD Writer have a 30-day trial, but then must be purchased if the user wishes to continue to use them.

As for your installation steps, they sound just fine, with the small exception that you said you downloaded the codecs to the location of dAP. I hope you installed the codecs to the same location as dAP and not just copy the .exe installer file.

          Lt Data,
          Thanks for the fee info.
I haven't actually done those three steps yet, but with all the help, I think I have a reasonable chance for success this time.
Where in West Virginia? I'm in Cameron (near Moundsville and Wheeling).
