dBpowerAMP player does not recognize .FLAC files

My Windose XP pro crashed hard a couple months ago leaving me no choice but to do a clean reinstall. I reloaded DMC R11.5 and recently upgraded to R12. I installed .flac from codec central and all went well. I finally finished re-ripping my cd collection and decided to download and install the latest and greatest version of power amp player. I tried to add my .flac files to the music collection and it gave me an error message that disappeared too quickly to read. When I tried to open a single file there was no flac file types. I reinstalled the codec from codec central, no help. I then installed the latest update from the sourceforge site. My DMC works fine but I can't get the music player to recognize .flac files. My dAP configuration page says .flac is installed and the .dll is in the decoder directory. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Signed,

    Silent at the computer

    See here for compatability: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/legacy-compatibility.htm

Basically, if you only have dMC r12 installed, uninstall dAP, then install dAP to a new directory. Then go to Legacy Codec Central and install that FLAC codec.

Edit: The link for Legacy Codec Central is in the main Codec Central.

Follow the Link in Codec Central to 'Legacy Codec Central' that is used for dAP.

I have exactly the same problem. (Someone recommended this program? Just me, but should it be this difficult to add files to any music player?)

So I'm not sure I understand what you are recommending. I should uninstall the newer version of sBpA player and find the older version to install? Then go find the FLAC codec?

When I took the legacy link, it seemed to lead me to the same codec I had for the new version of the player.

All I really want is a way to use rip FLAC files for use with a Sqeezebox (not yet purchased), and this program was recommended. I wanted to try listening to them after ripping, so downloaded the poweramp player.

Sorry, but a bit frustrated right now.

        Anymore instructions?

        Thanks

No, you keep your version of dAP but you have to install it into a different directory than r12.

The problem right now is that dMC r12 was released a couple of months ago and introduced a new codec system and the other Illustrate/dBpoweramp products haven't been updated to support the new system yet.

Just make sure you use codecs from Legacy Codec Central for dAP and not install dMC r12 to the same directory as dAP and you will be fine.

            Still no go.

After ripping several CDs, then uninstalling both ripper and player, then installing player again, I could add FLAC files. However, then reinstalled ripper, and could not add any files or folders that I ripped after that.

            Thanks

You installed the ripper to a different folder, correct? And didn't uninstall the old version of the FLAC codec when you installed the r12 version into the ripper?
