Music stops playing when Audio CD Input starts

The player has been working ok for many months. This week is started hanging when the CD ripping begins. The player will change songs, but the songs do not progress.

There are no conflicts between IDE and the Echo Audio card.

Is there something else to check?

That was the problem. Also, the ripping speed went down from 40x to 10x when PIO was enabled. I wonder how it got changed.

Its a feature Microsoft put into Windows to help the system try to read scratched CDs. Why it doesn't switch back is beyond me.
