crackles and pops in dAP, but not in WMP

I've been using dAP for years and hearing crackling and popping for years and thought it was just crappy rips or maybe just my computer. Then I was noticing complaints about dAP from users at download.com about that. So out of curiosity I checked out the songs in WMP and there are no crackles and pops. Obviously, I'd rather not hear distortion in my music. And I did see Spoon's suggestion about the harddrive setting being to DMA and mine is. Anybody else have this problem too? I don't really want to rum WMP because it sucks up way too many system resources. Plus I purchased the PowerPack......

Try going to your dAP Menu (either use the Menu button or right-click on any inactive part of whatever dAP skin you are using), select Amp. If Amp is set to DirectX, change the setting to WaveOut. If Amp is set to WaveOut, change to Direct X. Now see if dAP works without the pops and crackles.

If that does not help, open your dAP menu and go to MultiPlayer. Turn off cross-fade, if it enabled. Turn off Gapless if that is enabled. Again see if either (or both of those steps together) helps.

Let us know how you make out.

    Best wishes,
    Bill

I switched from Wave Out to DirectX and I think that it's fixed. Just for further information, the files are 192 kbps wmas. I'm glad I asked because those pops really bugged me and I thought I just had to live with it! :komisch12

I'll let you know if I hear anything else.
