    Loud buzzing noise

I've used dBpowerAMP Audio player for years, and as long as I had Windows 98 SE it worked just great. Now though, after getting a new computer with Windows XP, there is a very annoying problem. Every time I pause the player there is a loud buzzing noise for as long as the player is on pause. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Are you using dAP r2 or the latest r3 beta?

I don't know. I've just spent a few minutes trying to figure that out, but I can't. I have uninstalled the player and downloaded it again twice since May when I got my new computer, that made no difference. I'm guessing I do not have the Beta, but I am not sure.

Right-click on a blank part of a dAP skin to bring up a menu. Along the left-side of the menu you will see "dBpowerAMP" or "dBpowerAMP release 3 beta x" where x is the number of the beta you have.

It's not the Beta. Should I switch? Might that make a difference?

It is worth a try. There are many fixes in the beta and it is perfectly stable. It is not final yet as Spoon isn't finished with it yet.

Installing the Beta version made no difference. And I should probably point out that it makes no difference whether I play Mp3s, commercial CDs or CDs I have made myself, in any case the buzzing noise is still there whenever I use the pause.

What soundcard are you using, or are you just using the integrated motherboard sound?

I'm using my computer the way it came out of the box. But whatever the problem is it is particular to dbpoweramp. Windows media player doesn't have any buzzing problems, but I don't like it because it doesn't identify the tracks on the backup CDs I have made using dbpoweramp CD writer.

There's a setting in dAP to use DirectX or WaveOut.

With the player opened, right click somewhere to get the menu and pick Amp. You will see that option there. Change it to the other value.
