dbpowerAmp player stopped working

Hi,

I tried using the db audio player today, and found that it had stopped working properly. When I try to play music files, they go by too fast to be seen, almost.

A better description might be: I start a playlist, and I see the song information pop up in the display window, for approx a second or less; then the next song pops up for the same short time; the sequence continues to the end of the list, then stops.

I have re-downloaded and reinstalled the player, but the problem continues.

The only changes I've made to the computer since the last time db audio player was working was to install windows media player 10, to allow me to interface my IRiver MP3 player.

Has anyone had a similar problem, or any advice?

If you are not already using dAP (dBpowerAMP Audio Player) r3 beta6, please use that version (available through the beta section of the forum.

Is this happening only with playlists or does it also happen with single audio files?
Are your playlists in m3u format? When you were using WMP to synch your files with your iRiver, did those files get moved by WMP in the process (from where they were when, presumably, they were added to your My Music Collection/MMC)?

I am suspicious, from your description, that either playlists or the original files may have gotten physically moved in which case dAP cannot locate them since it only recognizes changes made WITHIN dAP and MMC. If this is the problem the remedy is to remove the files and playlists that this is happening with from MMC and then reloading them to MMC.

The next tip is to use the following routine (from the FAQ section in the dAP area of this forum) to reset dAP to "factory specifications" from here:

This is much quicker than a complete reinstall.

If neither of these suggestions helps, please let us know.

Thank you for the advice. It turns out that windows media player DID rename the music directory, and I didn't notice the difference when I looked at the directory (from My Music to Music).
