    Playlist

Is there no way to add tracks to a EXISTING playlist from My Music Collection...as opposed to digging thru several thousand tracks via Windows explorer?

This apparent inability is a major festering thorn in my side :(

Are you using dAP r2 or the latest dAP r3 beta? Yes, its a beta, but its perfectly stable and has many bug fixes.

Browse your computer to your playlist file.
            Right-click and select Edit Playlist.

            Best wishes,

                Re: Playlist

I don't think you can open a playlist for editing within MMC.
What you can do is open dAP, open the Playlist Editor, click on Load, browse to your playlist file you want to edit, then click on open. From therre you should be able to add and delete files from the playlist.

                Best wishes,
                Bill

                  Re: Playlist

yes xoas that can eb done like that, but the problem is, as far as I got it, that you can not add tracks from the mmc (right click menu) to a playlist. only to a new one...

I can only suggest that you create a new playlist from the tracks selected, and then try to add the earlier playlist to the new one. if all ok the old tracks will be added to the new ones, and you just save the new plst

                    Re: Playlist

I understand how to do this using Windows explorer......
and to select mutiple items in mmc and create a playlist with them.

The problem is that over time I will wish to add a track(s)
which can be done via win explorer but with several thousand tracks this is a major pain even tho i have my music fairly organized.

What i want is to be able to select the track(s) to add via MMC as I have my music organized there in a way that I can always find what I want fairly quickly.

As far as I can see there is no way to do this and as such playlists are of no use to me in dap which is a major drawback to a otherwise perfect product.

BTW why am i not being notified of new replies to subscribed threads?

                    Thanks,Bob

The e-mail function doesn't work. It never has worked right, for some reason.

So how would you add the previous playlist to the new one?

                          Re: Playlist

yeah you are right, it can't be done... dap playlist only allows adding of music files not playlists...

another suggestion would be to use my QM product. you can enuqe the files you want to add to the playlist, then enque the playlist. QM should transform teh playlist to single files. if it doesn't do that automatically, you can right click on the playlist and select the option.
then you just use the export to playlist feature (it is on the top of the window) an d save it as a new playlist...

a small warning: the playlist is maybe not with all of the posible features from the m3u standard. that is, I think it will save absolute paths to the files, not realative ones.. but other than that it should be fine...
if the need arrives, I'll maybe add full compatibility to it. though I am rather bussy at the time...
