Stops for a second when I open a folder or a file (even small files: jpg, avi, mpg, etc.) or small applications. Is this because my virtual memory is low? I have 768 HDD RAM and 1 GB virtual memory. I just raised the virtual memory to 1250 MB to see if that helps.

Are the files on your HDD or on a CD drive? Does it do it if they are on either?

How much physical memory has your PC got?

If the PC is low in free physical memory it will have to swap some out and this may cause dAP to stutter.

It cuts out on HDD and CDs. I have 768 RAM
