Editing tags in Music Collection - sometimes takes ages

Hello all

My MCC contains about 3500 tracks, a mixture of pop, rock, blues, and classical - in MP3, OGG, and APE, tracks lasting from just a few minutes up to around 25 minutes.

I like to edit the tags myself and like to keep things fairly simple,
e.g. Artist\Album\Track\Tracknumber\Year\Duration\Genre \Filename.

Some editing - even 20 multiple tracks - takes just a fraction of a second;
other editing - even for just a single track - takes anything up to several minutes or doesn't finish at all before MC freezes or crashes.

I can't work out why only some tracks cause this problem.
I must have some tag incompatibility set somewhere.
Can anyone help ?

For ogg the file should not be playing at the time (as the tags are at the front of the file).
