My music collection keeps crashing when I "add folder". It is my flac drive with about 10000 files. Are there any known bugs? Problems with non standard characters in filenames? or is it more likely a bad tag? It doesnt crash until the progress bar gets to the end. Would deleting any certain database files help?

Re: Help! Music collection crashing
could this folder be the culprit.... it loads by itself fine though... my problems started when I tried to locate missing files cause I moved some to another drive, it wouldnt work it just froze so I had to clear it and start over.
1 Continuum für Cembalo.flac
2 Zehn Stücke für Bläserquintett.flac
3 Artikulation, elektronische Komposition.flac
4 Glissandi, elektronische Komposition.flac
5 Etüden für Orgel (Nr. 1 Harmonies).flac
6 Etüden für Orgel (Nr. 2 CouleÌe).flac
7 Volumina für Orgel (1. Fassung).flac
they dont appear to have any tags
on another note? anyone know if/when you get to a point where music collection can't handle all the files? I've successfully loaded all 23,000 of my songs a few times, so I'm just wondering -

If the files have unicode filenames then they will not be supported by dAP.Comment

Re: Help! Music collection crashing
ugh this is getting really agravating, but it seems that maybe MC just can't add 12,000 files at once... I've had my music on my drive like so f:\artist - disc\01 track.flac so I've had to add f: to add my music but I tried just splitting all my files up into a few folders just temporarily IE f:\temp1\artist - disc\01 track.flac, temp2, temp3 and so on. Add the 3 folders individually and all is fine... Add the root drive and it still crashes! So have I just reached a limit or what? I thought I could keep splitting the files up into folders and hopefully find the bad files by process of elimination. but maybe I don't have any?Comment

Re: Help! Music collection crashing
Ok I found the culprits, I guess I got lucky, still took a few hours though. It was some Apple Lossless files I forgot I added. It was this character...
´
that was in some of the filenames
thanks for your helpComment

Re: Help! Music collection crashing
I had a problem with the Music Collection loading a large number of files on an older computer without a lot of memory. Works fine on a computer with lots of memory, but wouldn't load about 2,000 files on one without so much memory.Comment

Hello superfastkyle

Can you tell me please exactly which character was causing the problem.
My MCC has about 3500 files and
it keeps freezing / crashing whenever I try to edit certin entries.
Some editing takes a fraction of a second; other editing takes more than a minute or doesn't finish at all before crashing.

He said it was an apostrophe: ´Comment

Re: Help! Music collection crashing
>>> an apostrophe ???
It seems unlikely that an apostrophe would cause such trouble.
The titles of rock, blues, and pop tracks are full of apostrophes
"it's a hard day's night" to mention just two.

Re: Help! Music collection crashing
notice it is not the normal apostrophe: ´ not '
This special apostrophe is not normally used, as it is only avaible by specifically wanting it and using either the Character Map or holding alt and pusing the number combination on the num padComment
