DirectX Not working with PowerAMP

I've been a long time user of dbPowerAMP and I love it... but for some reason, lately I can't get the 5.1 audio to work. I've had this problem before and its usually because I forget to set the amp to DirectX, but now no matter what I do I can't get the playback through all my speakers (PowerDVD works just fine).

Is this a bug in a new version??

Please help, I want to keep using poweramp.

Moved to dAP support.

I can't get dAP to play through all of my speakers either, even though every other player does this. *shrug*

What type of sound card do you have?

Have you check you windows settings? I have a Creative Audigy 2 card and occasionally I find that my Windows sound settings have changed from 5.1 speakers to just 2. A quick change of the settings and everything is back to normal.

With DirectX you cannot use the 24 bit DSP effect.

I have the Creative Audigy. Not worried about the 24bit stuff, just want the 5.1 speaker setup to work again. I have checked the windows settings (ya it does change it for some reason) but even after fixing that I still don't get sound through all speakers. It used to before. Oh well I still love dbPowerAMP.

Just an update. Problem solved.

Turns out it was the drivers.. I was using the "latest" drivers from the Creative website. I did a full reinstall of my OS and used the original CD that came with my sound card.. now all 5.1 speakers are working. And of course, I still love dbpowerAMP
