    Play Count...?

I have a question. I was under the impression that as play counts rise in dAP for files they get played more often. Is this true?

    ALSO
Is there a way to CLEAR the play count on all the tracks aside from creating a new collection? I have over 80gb of music in one collection and I dont want to redo it.

Any help or info would be greatly appreaciated!

No, random play (if that is what you are referring to) is random - it is not biased and it is trying to be a truly random play regime regardless of other parameters like play count.

I don't think you can clear the play count with a click of a button. You can do it instead, as you say, by creating a new collection file. But that is not that hard to do. You just start a new MMC file, then click "Add Music" and point to the directory tree with all your audio files, then wait until MMC is finished adding them. And voila - you have the same collection file as before, but with the play counts reset to zero.

Alright thats what I thought, but wasnt sure. And I know some programs out there that DO rely on play count to decide what tracks to play.

I know there is no button or built in option to do it. However I rember reading in a forum somewhere that you can actually edit one of the collection files and edit the play count directly from there.

The reason I do not want to creat a new play list is that I have over 190gb of mp3s/wma/ogg etc etc on my computer spanning over a couple of hard drives. One collection my "master" collection holds about 90gb of files and they are from all over my harddrives, so if i just do a folder add, it will either give me EVERYTHING or I will have to redo the collection by going folder by folder.

a little warning if you make a new collection, then you loose some data from the mmc. these are :

rating, multi genres, boost, and (not really important) user states.

and as far as I know dap random is not fully random, it is a large part but, there are some selection modifications that make songs you like more play more, where play count, preference etc. does mater.

There's a thread about the random play here: http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=2027

The gist is that random is random in that it will pick from all of your songs every time, and depending on the preference it will play those with higher preferences more.
