DAP not cleaning up on Uninstall

    Part 1 - report bug

When I uninstall DAP, it's not deleting the DAP specific registry keys that it left behind. Nor is it "defaulting" the values.

This means that when I re-install DAP, it's still using the values it left behind. Which is bad, since the reason that I'm uninstalling and reinstalling DAP is that I've broken some settings, and I'm trying to get "clean".

By default, uninstalling an application should cause it to remove any non-shared keys that it created. For user-created files, or easily discovered user-configurations in files, it's okay to leave these behind, but it's preferable to ask the user during uninstall (think SavedGame files, etc).

Part 2 - ask for help

Can I get a list of the DAP specific keys, so I can delete them manually?

Part 3 - ask incredulously: am I reading the website correctly, that DAP has not been updated in almost three years?

    Thanks,

    Joe

Re: DAP not cleaning up on Uninstall

    Run this http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=403

And dAP's beta 3 was updated a year and a half ago. Download at the link below. It is perfectly stable.

Edit: whoops, forgot to push the spacebar before I pasted the link. It should work now

      The link is:
      A. Some setting has changed that does not agree with your computer, run this to refresh dAP to the factory install setting: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/bin/dAPResetAll.exe

It is located in the FAQ section for dAP.

        Thanks for the link.

Still... it's nice that this utility exists, but in the 4 years since it was posted, wouldn't it have been better to simply update the install/uninstall script?

I think the settings are left there so that if you do uninstall the program then decide to install later, you still have your settings.
Also, its probably so that dMC and dAP don't mess each other up if you have both installed then uninstall one of them.

Exactly, dMC and dAP use the same registry settings.

I considered this. That's why I referred to DAP specific settings, not shared with dMC. Equalizer settings, last file playing settings, etc. There are several "playing" keys specific to DAP, not shared with DMC.

However, your sharing model suggests that even if I remove every d-application, these keys will not be removed, since each app wants to leave keys for other apps. That is, unless you are ref-counting, or detecting other apps on uninstall.
