    Unkown encoder 'hevc_qsv'

I'm new to this program and can't get it working with my Intel Arc B580.

I have the current Intel drivers installed. I can transcode H265 QSV with Handbrake no problems.

A screenshot of what I'm trying to do has been attached. I've tried it with and without the DSP Effect; same result of it failing with "uknown encoder".

Can someone help me with figuring out how to get this working for transcoding with QSV?

    Thank you!

First try removing the DSP effect. Try QSV h264 or QSV AV1 do either of those work?

I have just tested your exact settings on A380 and it worked perfectly.

This is likely the issue, try running Video Converter as Administrator (right click on dBpoweramp control centre >> run as administrator >> then choose music converter)

I updated the drivers of my B580 to the newest version (32.0.101.6559), and since then, I can't use the hardware encoders for recordings anymore. When I tried recording, there was an error and when I checked the output tab, all QSV options were completely gone. I was using them before and they...

Sorry for the late response, got distracted for a bit :(

I tried all of your suggestions:

Run as administrator - Same error

Run as administrator and switch to h264 QSV, and again with AV1 QSV - Same error

There's a new driver available. I'll install and see if that helps and will post back.

In the meantme, Handbrake is pumping out QSV H265 transcodes with no problem. Which confuses me.

Try going back to the older driver version as mentioned on that post.

No worries on the late reply—totally understand how things get busy! It's interesting that Handbrake handles QSV H265 just fine while the other setup fails. Definitely seems like it could be a driver-related quirk. Hope the new update clears things up—looking forward to hearing how it goes!

This is a frustrating error, but it's great to see everyone sharing their expertise. One key thing to remember with HEVC QSV is that it relies heavily on your GPU's hardware support. It's always a good idea to check that your specific GPU model is compatible with the encoder and that your drivers are fully up-to-date. Sometimes a clean driver install can fix these kinds of issues.
