CD Adio Input went BOOM! Please Help!

I have been using db pwert amp for years. I use the CD input almost daily. Today I was ripping a few CD's and when I hit 'refresh' I got the blue screen of death (A first for me with xp sp2).

I restarted, shut down again, dumped all dll's from memory and tried again. I got a microsoft error dialog "cdgrab.exe has encountered a problem and needs to shut down".

I uninstalled downloaded an new registered copy and reinstalled. Same error message every time.

    Please oh please help me.

Try the total uninstall here: http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=6828

If that doesn't work, try a System Restore, mabye?

Re: Adio Input went BOOM! Please Help!

Did a full uninstall, and deleted all codecs and all registry keys. Reinstalled.

      No Luck

Did another full uninstall and a system restore to one week before problem. Reinstalled a freshly downloaded copy.

Still will not open CD Audio Input.

      Any other ideas?

      Thanks so much,

      Cliff

Quick question: What CD were you ripping when Audio CD Input died? Hopefully, it wasn't one of those with the rather nasty Sony XCP CD Copy Protection...

Perhaps it is linked to just one cd.

I had just ripped a Roxy Music cd (Virgin rcords '99) and had put in Interpol Antics (Matador Records '04) (Just got my fiance an ipod for christmas)

I have tried swiching the cd's in the drive and having no disk in the drive. I get the error message right away, it doesn't even take the time to check the CD.

            Still stumped........

Try a different program, that will tell you if it is the program or your hardware/Windows.

I can still rip w/ wmp & itunes, but neither of them is as nice as db audio input.

                Hoping?

Are you signed in as adminstrator when you install any dB programs and when you attempt to rip a cd using dMC Audio CD Input? It will not work otherwise.

Are you pointing to the right cd drive?

Can you play an audio cd in that drive normally, using any player?

yes....set as default. Although again, db powerAmp CD Audio input will not open at all, in any way. So I cannot check that the default is what it was a few days ago. Every time I try to open I immediatly get the error listed earlier.

Sorry, I'm fresh out of any other ideas. Somethign si seriously corrupted on your system, and obviously a restore to one week before is not good enough.

ok thanks......I am going to try the restoring to a MUCH earlier point then reinstalling the os. Is there anyway I can get access to d/l my registered copy again, and maybe more than just once.

I am getting the "this account has downladed too many times this week. Try again next week."

                              Thanks for all the help,

                              Cliff
