    HELP PLEASE codec unknown etc

    hi there,
basically i'm having problems with a dvd i bought with loads of mp3 acapellas on it. The problem is that whilst some of them play, most of them don't have 0kb original size and no compression ratio and nothing to say what codec it requires. When i play them in media player there is a long track of like 1hr15mins(when it should be a small sample) and no sounds and in other players like nero it says invalid file. When i try and convert it in db it says:
The CODEC required to decompress 'E:\SAMPLES - ACCAPELLA DVD\Dance\H-P\J\- jamie lewis feat michael watford - for you.mp3' could not be opened. :vmad:
I write dancemusic and have opened tghe files in specialist programs like soundforge 7 and cubase and it just says unsupported format or something like that!
Is there anythng i can do about this as it is really getting me down that i might have wasted money on something because i don't know what it ws encoded with!
    I appreciate anyones help!!!!

    Thanks

    Nick

    I'm confused. Is this a mp3 DVD or a DVD-Audio disc?
I'm a little discouraged by the fact that no players will play it. Do you happen to have DVD watching software on your computer? If yes, try playing the DVD with that software, mabye?

Understandable, DVDs loaded with mp3s aren't very widely supported by stand-alone (attached to TV) players.
You say no player on your computer will play it? Have you tried a DVD-playing program on your computer?

There may be a player program given on the dvd itself, have you looked at all folders and files there?

get ahold of graphedit... open those crazy files with that and see what directshow filters WMP is using to play them.

and a 0kb file is not really a file... sounds like whoever made that data dvd didnt know what they were doing

and are you sure they are mp3 files?
