    Converting from ra to mp3

    Hi,
I have followed the instructions in Codec Central and downloaded the DirectShow Codec (Reader) and Real Alternative. I have configured the Codec to recognise the installed filter (as per Help file). Yet whenever I try to convert ra files I get the following error message:

The CODEC required to decompress 'D:\Archives\eyeofthetiger[1].ra' could not be opened.
DirectShow filter for '.ra' not installed, or Audio File Corrupt.

The files play fine in real Alternative and in any case I'm pretty sure they would not all be corrupt. Is there something I'm missing here?
BTW, my OS is Win 98SE
    Regards, Malcolm

Did you also do this? http://www.dbpoweramp.com/Windows95-Update.htm
Never mind the name refers to Windows 95 - it also covers Windows 98.

And after adding the filters, did you run dMC Configuration one last time?

Somtimes you need to also reboot.

And finally it's possible the file cannot be converted using DirectShow filters and may need to be converted using the older Real Audio codec (which run in real time) - which also requires Real Player to be installed - and doesn't get along well with Real Alternative, which will have to be uninstalled.
