Did you also install the main Ogg Vorbis codec? You have to install that along with the aoTuV codecs.

Yes, that one works fine, but aotuv b4 crashes at the end. I get the same message as posted in the original post of this thread. Like I said, I have an old system (Pentium 3). I've searched for aotuv b3 in the forums here, but can't find a download link. Does it become obsolete when aotuv b4 is released? Thanks for the reply

Normally, crashing at the end means its not tagging the file correctly.
Check your dMC Configuration (Start --> Programs --> dBpowerAMP Music Converter --> Configuration --> dMC Configuration) for what version of the main Ogg Vorbis codec you have. The latest is release 13 based on Vorbis 1.1.1. If you do not have r13, update the main codec and then see if that fixes it.

Another idea is to make sure dMC can read your file. Can you convert your source file to a 16-bit, 44100Hz, 2 channel WAV file?

Re: Ogg Vorbis aoTuV B4 Codec Crashing

I'm using release 13 based on 1.1.1. My source file is a wave file ripped from cd using exact audio copy, and I can convert it to mp3, mpc, and ogg vorbis, just not ogg vorbis aotuv b4. I've also tried numerous wave files just for good measure. However, I used my sister's computer (newer p4) to convert wave files to ogg vorbis aotuv b4 and it worked perfectly. All I can come up with is that the problem is something specific to my computer or to systems like mine. Anyway, thanks for the help. I'll probably just use ogg vorbis for now, unless you have any other suggestions (if only cowon iaudio supported mpc!)

Re: Ogg Vorbis aoTuV B4 Codec Crashing

Which aoTuV encoder crashes, the SSE2 one or the regular aoTuV one? Or both?
IIRC, the only difference between the two aoTuV encoders and the normal Ogg Vorbis encoder is the time it takes to encode.

Re: Ogg Vorbis aoTuV B4 Codec Crashing

My understanding is that the aoTuV features produce a notable improvement in quality (this was certainly the case for the aoTuV beta 3 compared with standard ogg vorbis 1.1.0, it may or may not be the same or less for the aoTuV beta 4 compared to standard ogg vorbis 1.1.1). AoTuV (either beta) is moderately faster than standard ogg vorbis but the SSE 2 codecs (both) are quite a bit faster still.

However, for cneill this is probably academic, since his system cannot handle the aoTuV beta 4 codecs. I am not sure whether the beta 3 is any easier on older systems or not (it might be harder). Perhaps one of our Ogg wizardsd can answer this.

              Best wishes,
              Bill

both the sse2 and regular aotuv crash.

and I also thought that aotuv was supposed to produce a notable improvement in quality. Is the aotuv b3 supposed to be any better (or noticeably better) than standard 1.1.1? If so, then I could try that if someone could tell me where to find the download.

Re: Ogg Vorbis aoTuV B4 Codec Crashing

I think the aoTuV b3 included enhancements made it into Vorbis 1.1.1.
