    Streaming files..

    Hi!!
What kind of files is streaming files?
    You cannot get any information
on it because the macromedia flash player
don't say to much. So is it possible
to use Auxiliary input for streaming
    it down to my hardware?

    Re: Streaming files..

Basically a streaming file is one meant to be played in real time over the internet or other network thus saving the listener from having to download the music file him/herself. There are a variety of streaming formats.
In theory it may be possible to record a streaming audio file as you play it using auxilary input. In practice this may not be ideal unless you can be sure of an uninterrupted audio stream (often not the case if you have a dial-up connectiion as I do). If you are able to play the audio track without interruption then you should have no probleems using Auxilary Input.
FYI-Christina has a bit more information about dealing with streaming audio in her FAQ about metafiles here: http://forum.dbpoweramp.com/showthread.php?t=4992
(look at the last few paragraphs).

    Best wishes,
    Bill

            Re: Streaming files..

You mentioned the Macromedia Flash player. Streaming flash I believe does not involve meta files, it's just the way the flash file was compiled that makes it stream or not. Maybe it's part of it's internal coding, the way streaming quicktime is done as well.

In any case, dMC Auxiliary Input can capture the audio from the soundcard to an any audio file type you want (uncompressed wav is best).

But post the link here so we can see what we are dealing with.

What from there do you want? The flash movie from the home page itself?

Thre are two .swf files there. One gives just the video aprt, no audio, and another contains the audio.

                The audio one is: http://www.systemofadown.com/jukebox.swf

Right click this link and use save as to download it to your pc.

The you can play it directly on your pc through a flash player and you record it through dMC Auxiliary Input.

                  Re: Streaming files..

OK, that swf file doesn't play standalone on my pc, so either I messed up the download or it's designed to only work on the web.

In that case you play it from the web and record it at the same time.

However try to right click and save this particular file:

This will play on your pc.

                      Hi!!
But is it possible to save it as a wav?
Because when i'm playing it from my
                      hd auxiliary dosn't recognise it.

Did you follow the Instructions I linked you to? What recording choice are you checking in your volume window?

                          Hi again!!!
It dosen't work. Maybe my soundcard is
out of order, or i am out of order.

                            Re: Streaming files..

There are detailed instructions on how to use dMC Auxiliary Input and how to handle the Volume controls for recording that are involved. Please follow them all carefully.

The good new is once you have fixed your volume controls properly they will be OK for next time you want to use dMC Auxiliary Input again.
