What setting do you have for MP3 tags? Where are you reading the cut-off tags?
Check dMC Configuration (Start --> Programs --> dbPowerAmp Music Converter --> Configuration --> dMC Configuration) and click "ID Tag Options". Change the setting for mp3 to "ID3v2 & ID3v2".
What is probably happening is that dMC is writing SmartAPE2 tags and the program your using to read tags cannot read that. ID3v1 has a maximum character limit and you appear to be hitting it.

What about the other mp3 tag level? (can't remember the name at the moment)

Change your tag settings to "ID3v1 & ID3v2". As I said, ID3v1 has a character limit.
Also, if you'll click the "Advanced" button on the file properties page, you can put in the longer track name.

Re: Having 'Tag' problems, please help

Is ID3v1 more popular than ID3v2, LtData? Or are they both just as popular?

ID3v2 is the newer standard and designed for longer tags and more tag fields. Dunno about popularity.
