well i tried making it into a smaller wav, but the file still stops at the 3 hour mark (even though dmc says its 100 percent complete)
if you would be so kind, could you please find that program

Not tonight I'm afraid, It's somwhere here in the forum .... but I don't remember where I saw it. It was in conjunction with a similar problem.

It didn't exactly get solved but it brings out a couple of points:

Setting the priority of the conversion to below normal is one.

Then the program Audacity may be able to handle stuff that dMC has trouble with at times. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/windows.php (it acts also as an mp3 splitter I think).

I'd also look at what your conversion ended up as, when you say it stopped at 3 hours - though it says it ended normally. Might the original mp3 file be in fact made up of 2 or more files joined together? Or is the conversion full but the audio is much faster? Or is just the duration stated wrong and the result is in fact correct?
