Ok, cool down, get organized, uninstall and reinstall properly everything, try again, document what you're trying, what works and what doesn't, try different things.

Then post complete information as to OS and versions of software (dmc, codecs) and file types (from what to what, what specs), so that somebody can actually help you. Just ranting about the thing not working doesn't help at all.

Re: The CODEC required could not be opened..?

I have done all that. I installed v10.1 of the converter and v11.1 of the first Ogg codec and version release 2 of the second ogg codec (for pebtium 4 processors, and i DO have 1) then i went back, uninstalled all of it and downloaded it all again and exactly the same thing happens

      So any suggestions now?

I can't use the CLI version (no P4), but the regular one works fine, both for ripping from an audio cd and for converting from a wav file.

Is everything installed to the same folder?

Check the compression settings: cbr, vbr, frequency, etc for your output file.

Try to do it in 2 steps: rip to wav (16-bit, stereo, 44.1 khz) then convert wav to ogg. Do you still have the same problem?

thanks for the tip, have installed all to same folder and converted to .wav then to ogg but unfortunatly its still displaying the message "The CODEC required to decompress 'C:\WINDOWS\Desktop\Converted Music\System of a Down - Track01.ogg' could not be opened.

any new thoughts? this is really driving me mad

                Sorry, no other useful thoughts.

                Does your wav work fine?

Are you using the regular ogg or the CLI ogg?

Are you converting the wav to ogg and it doesn't work?

What old version and new version are we talking here? Are you referring to the CLI ogg codec as the "new version"? I think it's just a different ogg codec that is supposed to only work with P4 but it should produce the same result as the regular ogg codec.

                        What is your OS?

I hope you're not trying to convert to ogg again from the cd using dMC CD Audio Input right now. Use simple dMC in Windows Explorer and try to convert the wav file you got before to ogg using regular ogg codec (not the CLI one).

"The CODEC required to decompress 'C:\WINDOWS\Desktop\Converted Music\System of a Down - Track01.ogg' could not be opened
This error message suggests that the program is trying to open an Ogg file for conversion.
The question that occurs to me is this: Where did this Ogg file come from?

The second is: Do you know that the file you are trying to convert is already in Ogg format? If not, check the tag information and or the properties for this file to confirm this.

If you know you have an Ogg file and you are trying to reconvert it to Ogg at a different frequency or bitrate, make sure that you do not have selected the option to delete source files after conversion. If you are talking about reconverting to a different frequency than the original file, please make sure that you have Professional Frequency Conversion enabled (it is set in dMC Configuration).

                          Best wishes,
                          Bill Mikkelsen

Re: The CODEC required could not be opened..?

i am converting from CD to .ogg but i have tried to convert from .mp3 to .ogg and .wav to .ogg. Neither of these conversions work either.

yes, wen i say the "new version" i mean CLI and the old is the just the ogg vorbis codec. and i have tried that (Use simple dMC in Windows Explorer and try to convert the wav file you got before to ogg using regular ogg codec) but that didnt work either. OS?

both of these codecs came from THIS website. the cd im using is NOT in the ogg fromat.
"Professional Frequency Conversion enabled (it is set in dMC Configuration)."
                            <how do i do this?>
