    Audio CD Input settings

Browsing through the support pages, I decided to check the settings for my Audio CD Input, (having noticed that some people are having problems with this facility), to make sure it's working properly before the next time I need to use it "in anger". I am using XP pro. When I scroll through to the CD Communication settings, mine reads "CD Communication/ASPI/Command Set/MMC", which is totally different from the settings suggested in the forum. My CD input seems to be working OK, so will you please confirm this is the correct setting? Thanks for your ever willing help.

Those sound like the settings that I am using on my Windows XP PC and it works for me. Have you tried a test rip to check things?

Thanks, Wayne. No, but now I have some assurance that these settings appear to be normal, that will be the next step. I'm still trying to get hold of a cople of discs that I can use for calibration - the whole of my collection consists of Australian 'pressings', save for a few classicals that don't figure in the llists! But it will happen!

Ideally for XP set communication to 'NT 2000 Device IO' and command to MMC

I've experienced problems using cd ripping. Every single time I try to rip a audio CD all I get is error message saying:

          "CODEC decompression error for '\\CdRom\Track01.cda'
Unable to Rip track - make sure correct Ripping method is selected and CD Drive supports digital audio extraction."

          I am using:
          Windows XP Pro SP1
          Samsung SW-224B (CD R/RW)

Settings say "NT 2000 Device IO" and "MMC" but I've tried every single of them but no luck.

In that case try, NT 2000 Built-in (Limited).
