Perhaps your cd drive is not functioning correctly.

          Thanks for the directions Oggy.
I eventually navigated to the secure option settings and found the C2 checkbox.

It couldn't have been using the C2 option because the Secure Options was not selected at default setting (ie; off the shelf setting from my download yesterday).
The Burst ripping method was checked as default (fastest ripping - no error checking).

Going to try a different cd with the default Burst option and then try the Secure option without C2.

This should help determine if problem with either the original disc or my laptops DVD/CD drive.
Luckily I have an external HP CD/DVD drive in case it's my laptop's DVD/CD drive.

I'd like to say how impressed I am with the support coming from this forum.

The trial is as much to do with system support as it is with the product itself.
          Merry Christmas guys!

Interesting results with a completely different cd:
            Burst Mode took 3m 33 s (no error checking/fastest?)
            Secure Rip (without C2) took 3m 29s
Going to retry the 1st/problem disc again.
            Will post results later

convinced the problem is with the 1st cd (Who Live in Hyde Park)
              Retried the rip:
              1st 6 tracks ripped in 2m 20s
Encountered problem on track 7 causing re-rip.
Checked error log - looks like issues at 3:30 within Track 7 (of 4:55):

Side note, in case this is not clear. Yes, burst mode is fast, because it's not doing the same checking as a secure rip. best setting is to use "ultrasecure". This will be as fast as burst in the case where the CD is in the AccurateRip (AR) database and you get a match on ripping. If not in AR or not matching, then dbpa will automatically do multiple passes and compare the results to give your greater odds of having a bitperfect rip.

Do you enable the vary drive speed option?

I'm not at home, but I recall that I do NOT enable that.

I've tried it on a very scratched disc, but it seemed to give practically identical results.
