How do I fix the "unable to write to folder.jpg disk full or access denied" error?

    Hello,

I used to be able to save album art by using the Export to folder.jpg. However, around two months ago I stated getting the error "Unable to write to folder.jpg disk full or access denied" (see image below). It's simply not true that the disk is full, so I assume it is an 'access denied' issue, but I do not know the reason for this.

I found another post about this error on this forum. The post is linked to CD ripping and the person said:

"Windows apparently changed my settings so i couldn't see system files, and once I changed that back, all the folder.jpg files magically reappeared"

However, as far as I know, I can see system files, so I don't think this is the issue for me.

How do I fix this, please?

    Many thanks,
    A

The files are on a local drive i.e. SSD in a laptop.

However, a friend and I have solved the issue. It seems the problem is linked to a folder.jpg file already in the specific subdirectory, except I cannot see the folder.jpg file(s). I do have show hidden files and folders selected in Windows Explorer, but in spite of that, I can't see the file(s).

I used Everything (a file and folder tool) to search for the folder.jpg file(s) and found it. I also double checked the existence of the folder.jpg file(s) in the directories using Powershell and found it.

Once I found the folder.jpg file, I deleted it and once deleted, I was able to export the album art using the Export to folder option.

There is an option in Explorer to show hidden & system files, for reasons only known to Microsoft, Windows Media Player would set folder.jpg files as hidden system files.

I have show hidden & system files selected and they are still not showing. However, I found elsewhere that if Hide protected operating system files is deselected, they will show. I have deselected Hide protected operating system files and they are all now showing.
