    Windows 10 will not convert

Hi, I've been a registered user of dB since 2005, always loved it.

What I usually do is right-click on a mp4 video and then "convert to", then selected mp3-lame and everything was perfect.

So I upgraded to Windows 10. The software seems to running fine but when I try to convert I get this error message :
    Error converting to , 'C:\Users\Vincent\Downloads\jwbon_E_201508_01_r480 P.mp4' to 'C:\Users\Vincent\Downloads\jwbon_E_201508_01_r480 P'
    Error no encoder specified. [dBCoreConverter::ParseCommandLine]
The encoders seem to be broken.

Did a clean uninstall, re-installed, same error.

Here are my codecs, if it can help. Thank you very much.

This error means that dBpoweramp cannot write to the %tmp% file location, if you type this into the address bar of windows file explorer it will show you where it is.

Is your Windows 10 user account, a standard account or an administrator account?

Are you running any anti-virus/security software?

Are you getting errors for any codec/utility codec in Convert To (including Test Conversion), or just mp4 >> mp3 (lame)?

If you right-click on your %tmp% folder, select Properties, then select the Security tab. You should see a list of users under Group or user names.

Select each user listed in Group or user names and the permissions (Full Control, Modify, Read & execute etc.) are listed in the Permissions below.

Are all permissions ticked for all users?

Re: Windows 10 will not convert

Sorry, I am at a lost as to the cause of the problem.

It has been stated recently on these forums, that dBpoweramp Music Converter is compatible with Windows 10.

So, assuming that dBpoweramp is installed correctly, I don't know what else to suggest.

Hopefully, someone else can advise here.

Browse to where dBpoweramp is installed, then right click on musicconverter.exe >> run as administrator, try doing a conversion, does it work?

                            Many thanks!

Must be a small difference in the User Account Control in Windows 10 and your previous Windows version prior to the upgrade. I suspect, UAC was reset during the upgrade.

Personally, I run Windows 8.1 64-bit, UAC is disabled, user account is administrator and musicconverter.exe doesn't require the elevated administrator tweak.

However, I do have other (non Illustrate) software, which I have to run with elevated administrative rights.

                              For more info. see here:
