That's exactly what the dBpoweramp trial version is for, to determine whether it's of any use to you and also saves you a little grief if it isn't.

m4p are protected mp4 files, nothing can legally convert these files as they are encrypted.

Keep calm and try this another solution.
Launch the "Configure dBpoweramp" program, using "Run as administrator".
Go to the "Music converter" panel, uncheck '''Convert to' on Right Click Menu", re-check, and click OK.

I've got the problem with other programs since Windows 7 (like 7-zip for example).
If you want to add shortcuts to context menus, you must install program using command "Run as Administrator" (right click on the setup file and select "Run as Administrator"), even if you have an account with Administrator profile.

when i right click on a music file to convert it, there is no option to convert, i've followed all the advice in this post, but still no luck, i'm using windows 10 as administrator, i've reinstalled db restarted, but whatever i do there is still no option to convert

Re: Windows 10 will not convert

It means that for some reason dBpoweramp is being denied access, to certain parts of Windows (or the registry), such as HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software.

By run as administrator it is removing this OS restriction.

Must be a small difference in the User Account Control in Windows 10 and your previous Windows version prior to the upgrade. I suspect, UAC was reset during the upgrade.

Personally, I run Windows 8.1 64-bit, UAC is disabled, user account is administrator and musicconverter.exe doesn't require the elevated administrator tweak.

However, I do have other (non Illustrate) software, which I have to run with elevated administrative rights.
