    cant't activate MIDI codec

When in DB poweramp configuration, codes tab, I select (under install on demand) the Midi codec, I get sent to a sitepage 'dBpoweramp codec central: midi. There I can download the decoder release 2 and launch it (so far so good). Then, I have to allow changes and select the install to-location. So far so good.

However, selecting 'install', on the background I see the green bar building to 100% 'running dBconfig.exe' and then I get an error window 'error whilst running c:\program files\dbpoweramp\dBconfic.exe'
As a result, I still can't convert midi files to mp3...

    How to solve this?

Which version of dBpoweramp is installed? 32 bit or 64 bit? and where is it installed?

      Hi Spoon,
you might be on to something.
      - this PC>Windows(C>ProgramFiles>dBpoweramp contains a few maps
      - thisPC>Windows(C>ProgramFiles(x86)>Illustrate>dBpoweramp contains most maps and files (also maps with the same name as in the other location
      - which version? how can I tell?

        Re: cant't activate MIDI codec

You are best to uninstall all dBpoweramp programs in the Programs and Features section of control panel. Then run this:

...also how to do a full reset of dBpoweramp? (if dBpoweramp crashes for some reason) Where does dBpoweramp save its files / settings? It is installed to c:\Program Files\Illustrate\dBpoweramp or c:\Program Files (x86)\Illustrate\dBpoweramp The 64 bit version of dBpoweramp is installed to: c:\Program Files\dBpoweramp It

Which will remove the 2nd install also.

        Then reinstall.

          Re: cant't activate MIDI codec

          Hi Spoon,

just did all that, re-installed, added the midi codec (no error messages this time) but still when I try to convert a midi tot wav or mp, I get the error message about the codec. In het map (c/prog(x86)/illust/db/decode ) I see a dll file 'midi'. But in the configurator i can still select midi as 'to install'. So seems one problem is solved but we're not there yet...

Which filename are you installing for dBpoweramp?

The (x86) folder is 32 bit dBpoweramp, is dBpoweramp is installed to?:

no, it's actually all installed in the x86/illustrate/db map. So probably, I've downloaded and installed the 32 bit version. Haven't noticed how or where I shoud've selected the 64bit version.

Not sure what you're asking for,
the file I download to install the codec, is dBpoweramp-Codec-Midi.exe, retrieved from the webpage I get sent to when selecting 'install' for midi in the dBpoweramp configuration

on the registration retrieval page, it's called: dBpoweramp Reference R13.5
the download itself is called dMC-R13.5-Ref-Registered

Hope this is what you were looking for...

R13 is 32 bit, you have to force install the 32 bit version of the midi codec by holding the right shift key whilst running the installer.
