How to install the AAC encoder?

    Hi,
I'd like to use the batch converter to change FLAC files to AAC. I've tried several times to install the AAC encoder by following the instructions given and the actual installation seems to work. However, when I try and select M4a Nero (AAC) in the "converting to" tab, it remains greyed out, and clicking on it prompts the installation process again. Am I missing something important?
    Thanks!

You have installed the AAC codec which is different to the M4A (AAC), see:

Thanks for your help. I already installed the M4A (AAC) codec, but have just installed it again. However, the convert to AAC option in the tab is still greyed out.

This is where the files are:

      What should I try next?
      Thanks

Re: How to install the AAC encoder?

The problem is you have installed the codec to:

        encoder\encoder

which is not right, it should be installed to:

        illustrate\dbpoweramp\

and it automatically is placed in the right sub folder

Re: How to install the AAC encoder?

          Hi,
Please allow me to step in here, as I am also facing some issues installing AAC encoder. I need it as I want to convert FLAC files to .aac
I think I have followed all instructions, but nevertheless m4a nero aac is still greyed out.

Now I am wondering that the reason is that dbpoweramp ripping package with the standard codecs is installed on a different drive (I am happily using it for some years now), whereas the m4a/aac codecs are on the c: drive in programm files.

If you recommend to install everything on one drive, can I deinstall dbpoweramp and reinstall it on the c: drive using the same existing registration no.? or can it only install it once?

I thought I better ask before I screw everything up.

Your help, Spoon, would be very much appreciated.

Yes the codecs have to be installed on the same location as dbpoweramp.
