FLAC to Apple Lossless Bug - Conversion of Lyrics

R 14.2 FLAC to Apple Lossless has the following Bugs in converting Lyrics

1 Does not convert all of the lyrics. Only converts the first few sentences. Used software TagScanner to compare the lyrics in both files, .flac and .m4a

2 iTunes 10.5.2 does not display any lyrics for the imported Apple Lossless file.

Can provide the .flac files for verification / testing.

m4a has a maximum length of the fields in a tag (off the top of my head).

Re: FLAC to Apple Lossless Bug - Conversion of Lyrics

      Have just tried the following...

1 Edit the Lyrics field in the converted .m4a file using TagScanner (Tag Editor) software

      Original Flac file
      - Save the lyrics to a text file

      ALAC file (from dBpoweramp conversion)
      - Clear the lyrics field
      - Load text from Saved file
      - .m4a Lyrics field still displays truncated Lyrics
      - Save the .m4a file

SO was just about to agree with your comments re field length is limited, as TagScanner is still displaying truncated Lyrics

      2 iTunes

      - add the saved .m4a file to library
      - right click on file, select Get Info
      - iTunes NOW DISPLAYS ALL THE LYRICS

SO PROBLEM IS with dBpoweramp conversion
      - as reported in Original Post Problem *2, iTunes 10.5.2 does not display the Lyrics for any .m4a files that have been converted from FLAC to Apple Lossless by dBpoweramp

      The TagScanner software
      - seems to indicate that your conversion has populated the Lyrics field

BUT iTunes does not display any Lyrics until the .m4a file has been edited and/or saved using the TagScanner software

        Further testing...

        1 TagScanner software, (TagEditor)
        - select a different .m4a file (that was converted from Flac by dBpoweramp)
        - perform NO CHANGES to any Tags
        - merely click on the Save button

        2 iTunes
        - Get Info, Lyrics field NOW DISPLAYS the Lyrics. However they are truncated (caused by dBpoweramp conversion). Truncated lyrics...

(Dum-dumb-dummy doo-wah, ooh yay, yay, yay, yeah)
(Oh, oh oh oh oh ooh-ah-ah, only the lonely, only the lonely)

        Only the lonely (Dum-dumb-dummy doo-wah)
Know the way I feel tonight (Ooh yay, yay, yay, yeah)

        3 TagScanner software, (Tag Editor)
        - edit the Lyrics field as described in previous post, Save the file.

        4 iTunes
        - Get Info, Lyrics field NOW DISPLAYS ALL THE LYRICS

(Dum-dumb-dummy doo-wah, ooh yay, yay, yay, yeah)
(Oh, oh oh oh oh ooh-ah-ah, only the lonely, only the lonely)

        Only the lonely (Dum-dumb-dummy doo-wah)
Know the way I feel tonight (Ooh yay, yay, yay, yeah)
        Only the lonely (Dum-dumb-dummy doo-wah)
        Know this feeling ain't right (Dum-dumb-dummy doo-wah)

There goes my baby, there goes my heart
They're gone forever, so far apart
But only the lonely know wh-why-why I cry, only the lonely
(Dum-dumb-dummy doo-wah, ooh yay, yay, yay, yeah)
(Oh, oh oh oh oh ooh-ah-ah, only the lonely, only the lonely)

        Only the lonely (Dum-dumb-dummy doo-wah)

        Only the lonely (Dum-dumb-dummy doo-wah)
Know I cry and cry for you (Dum-dumb-dummy doo-wah)

        Maybe tomorrow a new romance
No-o-o more sorrow, but that's the chance
You've got to take, if your lonely heart breaks
        Only the lonely (Dum-dumb-dummy doo-wah)

Send me an email if you would like the files for testing.

Officially we have never pledged support for lyric tags, it is potentially down for R15, as with lyrics comes synchronized lyrics as well.
