    MP3 comment problem

    I have a mp3file with one comment containing a description.

    Like:

    TAG = COMM
    Desc = TrackNotes
    Text = This is a comment

    That shows up in dbPowerAmp correctly as:

    TrackNotes = This is a comment

    At the same time, the normal commentfield is empty.
    Also correct.

    But if I enter a value in the normal comment field, this will be written correctly, but at the same time the comment with a description is removed.

    This is not exactly, what I expected.

    Regards
    Thomas

      As far as I know dMC can only write 1 comment frame. Subsequent comments are converted to TXXX frames. This is a long standing issue.

      Some background: - I use dMC to rip my CDs to FLAC, then encode to mp3. - I use Mp3tag to add the Apple Sound Check tag "COMMENT ITUNNORM" to my mp3 files. - I use iTunes to add the tags ARTISTSORTORDER and BANDSORTORDER to my mp3 files, for sorting purposes in iTunes (which in iTunes are addressed as

        I didn't go that far back to look for this problem.
        That makes it so much more disapointing, that this has not been fixed yet.

        It seems to me, that bug fixing takes a very long time with dbPoweramp.

          Re: MP3 comment problem

          It depends on the severity of the bug. This seems to be a low priority as it affects fewer users.

          Spoon, hear our cries! Please put this back on the to-do list!!

          (Also be aware that dMC writes comment frames with an illegal null language code which causes the comment to disappear in Windows Explorer. This is a trap for the unwary. Re-writing the tag with any tag editor should restore the language code.)
