Batch Conversion - Power Pack or Reference

I would like to register for either the power pack or reference version of the product. Can someone please confirm whether the batch converter functionality is available through the Power Pack or only through the reference version. Thanks.

If you need dynamic naming then Reference is require, if not the Power Pack (both can have Batch Converter).

Thanks Spoon. Can you please clarify what dynamic naming allows one to do. For example, when I used the batch conversion with the trial version, it created a folder by artist but not a subfolder by album. I take it that is because I failed to name the new file/folder structure correctly. Would such naming require the dynamic naming functionality.

Also, when I register (either power pack or reference) do I need to redownload 13.1 or just copy over a registration key. IF I need to redownload do I need to uninstall first?

With the PowerPack and Batch Conversion, if you want to change where the files are located, your only option is to put all the files in one folder with NO subfolders. With Reference, you can use dynamic naming to create a subfolder and filename based on the tags of the file or based from the original file/folder structure.

Thanks LtData. I purchased the Reference Version. Can I install over the existing trial installation (also v 13.1), and retain existing settings, or do I need to unistall and then reinstall?

Thanks LtData. I am now trying to set up the dynamic naming. First I copied the following naming formula from the CD Ripper:

[IFCOMP][IFVALUE]album artist,[album artist],Various Artists[]\[album]\[track] [artist][][IF!COMP][IFVALUE]album artist,[album artist],[artist][]\[album]\[artist] - [track][] - [title]

Then I noticed the following that Spoon had previously posted on the forum

[IFCOMP][IFVALUE]album artist,[album artist],Various Artists[]\[album][IFMULTI] Disc [disc][]\[track] [artist] - [title][][IF!COMP][IFVALUE]album artist,[album artist],[artist][]\[album]\[artist] - [album][IFMULTI] Disc [disc][] - [track] - [title][]

Can someone explain the differences between the two?

Also, when batch converting, is there a way to copy over automatically the folder jpg to the new folder structure in addition to the embedded jpg?

Use the first one of disc number is in the album names, the 2nd one if not.

If the album art is embedded in the files, you can use the "ID Tag Processing" DSP effect to export the album art. If it is not embedded, then I don't think there is a way to automatically copy it over.

Thanks LtData. I am ripping the cds with CD Ripper into flac format and the album art is being saved in each in flac file and in the folder. Then I am using the batch converter to convert the flac files to lame in a parallel directory/folder structure. Each lame file contains the album art but the folder.jpg is not being saved in the new directory/folder structure where the lame files are being saved. Is there a way to do this with the batch converter and if so how do I do so? Thanks in advance.

Yes, when you pick LAME as the codec, use the "ID Tag processing" DSP effect and tell it to export the album art as "folder.jpg".

The album art is automatically copied over, you only need to set an option if you want to remove the album art on conversion.

I have done a bit more testing and have the following problem:

I have one directory with the following folder:
Dvorak; Concerto for cello in Bm; Tchaikovsky; Variations on a Rococo Theme
The folder contains the 3 movements of the piece and two other short pieces in 5 separate flac files.

Then I used the Batch converter with the following formula
[IFCOMP][IFVALUE]album artist,[album artist],Various Artists[]\[album]\[track] [artist][][IF!COMP][IFVALUE]album artist,[album artist],[artist][]\[album]\[artist] - [track][] - [title]

and the id tag processing effect to create lame files in a new directory.

This created the following folders in my new directory:

Dvorak; Concerto for cello in Bm; Tchaikovsky; V
Dvorak; Concerto for cello in Bm; Tchaikovsky; Varia
Dvorak; Concerto for cello in Bm; Tchaikovsky; Variations on
Dvorak; Concerto for cello in Bm; Tchaikovsky; Variations on a R
Dvorak; Concerto for cello in Bm; Tchaikovsky; Variations on a Rococo Theme


So instead of ending up with one folder with five files I ended up with five folders each with a separate nameand each with one file. Any thoughts?
