    Converting Ra Files

I Have Been Having Problems Converting Ra Files To All Other Formats. On Reading The Forum This Seems To Be A Problem Alot Of People Are Having. After Downloading The Program Everthing Worked Fine But After A Few Weeks It Just Stopped Working. The Program Runs As Normal But Just Converts In A Second But Leaves A File With A Second Of Dead Air On It. Has Anyone Got The Solution All The Threads I Have Read Don't Seem To End Up Fixing The Problem

    Re: Converting Ra Files

Which codec are you using to convert the RA files?

If you are using the DirectShow Filter codec can you play the files causing an issue in Windows Media Player? Do they play using the Media Player Classic (comes with Real Alternative)?

It could be that they are protected. How large are they in size?

i don't think they are protected files because they are the same files that were converted when i first purchased the program.the file does play on classic but it is only milli seconds long.

Are you saying that they no longer play fully in Media Player Classic?

How large are these files in size and duration?

Which version of dMC are you using?

            Re: Converting Ra Files

At 2KB it can't be a true audio file instead it is most likely a meta link to the real content.
Have you tried opening the ra file in notepad? If it is a link you will need to download it before you can convert it. dMC can not convert streamed audio.

              Re: Converting Ra Files

i think the ra file is a true file, it is 58,246KB in size and plays in media player classic no problem even when not on line. so i don't think it can just be a link

                Re: Converting Ra Files

So, you have two RA files, one that is 2KB and one that is about 58MB? Will they both play in Windows Media Player?

                  Re: Converting Ra Files

What he means is that he can play the original file of 58MB but when he converts it he gets a 2KB file.
I'm having the same problem. I have both real player and real alternative installed, can play .ra files on wmp classic but not on regular wmp. When i convert .ra files (of around 1MB) i get 1KB wav or mp3 files.

                    Re: Converting Ra Files

If you can't play the files in WMP, then that is why dMC cannot convert them. Try reinstalling RealAlternative, making sure you tell it to install the RealMedia DirectShow Splitter. Also, you may have to uninstall RealPlayer, but I am unsure.

Thanks! I uninstalled real & real alternative and reinstalled the latest real alternative. I'm not sure which part did the trick but it's working now.
