Do I still have to register and get the License?

All I want to do is covert some of the mp3's on my PC down to 192kbps. Do I still have to get the license and everything or am I not doing something right? The website states that you can download the normal version and decline the trial offer and you can have a functional coversion. But evertime I try to convert it fails because it says I need to register. I am new to this stuff and don't know much about it and don't have a lot of time to research. Thanks for your replies.

For mp3 you need to purchase the license.

You can decline the trial offer and just use the free functionality of dMC, but to encode to mp3 you have to have a license. See here for what features each version of dMC has: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/db-versions.htm
