    Registration problem

    Hi folks,

I need some advice. On January 20, I downloaded and installed dBpoweramp Reference R12.4 Trial and installed the program. Then about couple of days ago I purchased a registration which allowed me to download a file named dBpoweramp-AMG-2008-84734.exe that should be run and supposedly activate the software. So I did. When starting the program after applying this "dollar patch", there were no signs of any registration, and since there is no "About" page as in practically all other programs, the registration status cannot be verified. Today the trial period ran out and my fears were confirmed. I am left with a dysfunctional trial program, without any signs of secure ripping options and other features that I paid $28 to get. The only thing the registration program apparently succeeded in doing, was to register my subscription with AMG, which has 364 days left. Uninstalling and reinstalling the program, the codec pack, and the registration patch did nothing to help. Any clues? The support info on the website is, politely speaking, sparse.

Thanks Spoon for a rapid reply, but this time I am afraid that simple tricks won't do it. I did, of course, save a copy of the registration program already at download, and have tried to apply it repeatedly. After posting last night, I uninstalled through the Control Panel in XP Pro all dBpoweramp applications, including the AMG registration and all codecs. I then proceeded to remove all traces of Illustrate and dBpoweramp in Registry Editor (also all references to _Illustrate and __Illustrate and all corresponding program directories in C:\Program Files that came from my repeated attempts to reinstall). I then did a clean install, first of the program and then of the codec pack. Having the program start immediately upon installation was obviously impossible, even though I deselected the option before clicking OK in the install finished dialog. After having shut down the self-launching program and ascertained with the Task Manager that the CDGrab application had properly terminated, I applied the $28 patch. Same result. May this come from the fact that I did not activate the 30-days trial of AMG in the installation? I assume that users who deselect this option would also be able to register the program.

The file dBpoweramp-AMG-2008-84734.exe is the One Years subscription to AMG. The registered version of dMC would have been a different download (with registered in the file name). What installation program are you running to install dMC?

As Wayne said, there should have been two download links in the registration e-mail you received: one for one year of AMG, the other for the registered install of dMC. If you use Spoon's link, you can re-download the dMC registered installer if the link in the e-mail doesn't work.

Oops! Mea culpa! Next time I'll read the entire e-mail that is sent as a result of shareware registration before I make a post. Thanks Wayne for leading me right. It works as a beauty now.
