    2 Pass Encoding Disabled

Hi! I am running Release 12.3 of the dbpoweramp Music Converter. When using the Windows Media Audio 9.2 codec with settings of VBR Quality 75, 454 kHz and stereo VBR, the 2 Pass Encoding option is disabled. I have read other threads here that say for 2 Pass Encoding to be enabled you need a Registered Power Pack and you need to have installed Windows Media Audio 10. I have a registered Power Pack and I have installed Windows Media Audio 10 yet 2 Pass Encoding remains disabled. What do I need to do to enable it?

    Re: 2 Pass Encoding Disabled

Do you have dBpowerAMP's Windows Media Audio 10 codec installed?

What WMA codec are you selecting? Windows Media Audio 9.2, 10 etc.?

Can you paste your dBpowerAMP configuration here together with details on how you have completed the dMC convert window?

      Hi Wayne,

Yes, I installed dbpoweramp's Windows Media Audio 10 codec. I have tried all of the Windows Media codec flavors, but I mostly want to use Windows Media Audio 9.2 with settings of VBR Quality 75, 44 kHz and stereo VBR. Here is my configuration data:

2 Pass is not used on all WMA profiles, if I select

        Windows Media Audio 9.2

        Quality (VBR)

VBR Quality 98 44 KHz stereo vbr

then it can be selected (and VBR jumps to 192 kbps).

          Hi Spoon,

When I select Windows Media Audio 9.2, Quality (VBR), VBR Quality 98, 44 kHz, stereo VBR; 2 Pass Encoding remains disabled. I have tried all permutations of settings and 2 Pass Encoding never becomes enabled.

You installed the 10MB WMA Codec for XP? rather than the smaller Vista version?

I installed the download referenced as "Microsoft's v10 Pro, standard, lossless & voice" under Popular Codecs on the Codec Central page. Yes, the larger XP download.

Have you tried uninstalling the Windows Media Audio 9 Release 1 (WMA Pro 9) codec?

I thought about that but I can't figure out how to uninstall it.

I figured it out. I had Windows Media Audio 9 selected in the "Converting To" dropdown. When I selected Windows Media Audio 10 there, the 2 Pass Encoding option became available. Thanks to all for the help!

To remove old codecs etc. use the Add/Remove Programs option in the control panel.
