Is there any other way to detect the problem or are we out of options? :(

Idea: convert your mp3 files to another mp3 file and remove the tags then. Now take your tagless mp3 file and try converting it to m4a.

Now R5 and R6 both complete the conversion process but the resulting file is still of zero bytes :-|

Are you running any DSP effects during the m4a conversion?

I have tried running a few DSP effects and then disabling all of them but none of the methods work. I have tried with Replay Gain and Normalize.

Do you mean the trial one? If that is what you mean than no it is not a limited account. BTW why should that change the functionality of codecs? I have tried not using any DSP effects but that doesn't change anything either

No, Spoon means a limited account as opposed to an administrator-level account. Also, what version of Windows are you using?

I am using an administrator-level account on Windows XP Professional SP2. I am running AVG Antivirus 7.5.472. No other anti-spyware or permissions limiting program is running in the background (I provide the additional information because I understand the direction of the question now).

If you have a mp3 file under 10MB, I will PM you my e-mail address so you can send me one of these files to make sure the file or its tags are not the problem.

Yes, please give me your e-mail address. I will forward one of the files to you. Also, if you do not have any aversions to free file sharing web sites then I have uploaded one of the files at the following link. It is 3.4 MB

I downloaded it from rapidshare and the file converts just fine for me with the codec central version of the m4a codec. Try re-dowlnoading the Nero Digital zip file, mabye?

I have tried downloading the archive 3-4 times but it is not helping. I am sending you a PM with my e-mail address. Can you please send me the archive you are using? I will be really thankful.

Before I send it, there is a way to see if the EXE itself is working:
Copy the NeroAacEnc.exe and a WAV file to a folder on your C:\ drive, just call it "conversion" or something short. Open up a command prompt (Start --> run --> cmd) and go to the folder (cd C:\conversion). Then type the following:
                                Code:
                                neroaacenc.exe -q .35 -ignorelength -if "C:\conversion\<WAV file>.wav" -of "C:\conversion\output.m4a"
Then see if you get a valid m4a file. If you do not, I will send you the .exe's I have.

Also, something I just noticed: the file you have in your log, the Aerosmith file, has a single quote (') in the filename. If you take that character out, does the file then convert successfully?
