    Problem converting .mp2 to .mp3

I copied a radio program last night using Nebula Electronics DigiTV. The original is in .mp2. I then tried to convert it to .mp3 with the result being that it plays through both Windows Media Player and Creative Media Source but at 3 or 4 times the speed. Note the resultant decreased length of the track in the Audio Properties for the 2 types below.

I get the exact same result converting to .wav and .wma

During the conversion process I don't get any error messages, it all appears to be working fine and going to the correct folder etc.

    Any help much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Sam

Is the frequency of the source file really 48Khz?

Spoon - Thanks for the reply.
Not sure about the frequency, I would have to check when I go home this evening. Could/should it be different than what is listed in the properties?

I just played the source .mp2 file through dBpowerAMP and it says
48 KHz 192 Kbps - if that helps.

When played in .mp2 format - yes it sounds fine. Only in .mp3 and other converted formats does it speed up.

              Try converting it to wave.

              Are you using R12?

I had tried converting to wave with the same 'speeded up' result. Same with .wma. Yes I am using R12.

Re: Problem converting .mp2 to .mp3

Sorry for butting in to this old thread, but I have exactly the same problem: mp2 audio recordings made by DigiTV over a Nebula DTV card, the mp2 files play perfectly on my PC (Windows Media, Nero Player), but when converted to any other format (WMA, WAV, MP3) the result is somewhere around double speed.

                        Was there a solution?

                        Thanks

                        David

No solution, our decoder is skipping frames, then not resyncing, there did not seem to be an easy fix.

Thanks - that's a pity. I tried Audacity and it does convert the file correctly, although it's very slow. Is there any prospect of analysing what's wrong? The Amp player plays the mp2 files OK.

FWIW I never had any problems with mp2 files generated from my TiVo.

Which Amp version do you have? old versions used XAudio to decode mp3.
