Cannot Find 'Rip to Ram' in dBpoweramp Reference

    Hi,

After installing a new burner, my ripping speed dropped down to 5x. I read in some posts that 'Rip to Ram' needs to be checked but I can;t find it. I have dBpoweramp Reference R12 and I have searched to no avail. Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Misoc

P.S. If anyone has any suggestions to cure the slow ripping speed, please post.

Thanks for the reply. My IDE devices are in UDMA mode but I still have the same problem. Do you think it is the burner? It is a Pioneer DVR-1810.

or the disc you are ripping, try a new unscratched disc.

          Thanks for the reply Spoon.

          Here's my story,

I have ripped over 10,000 CDs using 3 computers (2 Pioneer drives, 1 NEC) over the last year. All CPU's are running XP Pro. I used EAC for about a year but recently switched to DBpoweramp with no problems. I rip everything to FLAC.

I have been noticing a decrease in performance on my NEC drive so yesterday I bought a new Pioneer DVR-1810 to replace it. The drive rips fine but won't rip over 5x on the machine I want it to. I tested the new drive in my other machines and it rips at 30x. And both my other drives rip at 30x on this machine.
I am trying to figure out why this Pioneer won't rip at high speed on this machine. I am thinking about reinstalling the OS or returning the drive and exchanging it for another one.

However, if anyone has had a problem similar to this and has a solution let me know.

            Just to make sure:
You checked the device manager's IDE channels and made sure your device was set to a UDMA mode, not "PIO Mode", correct? I ask because the BIOS may be set to DMA but Windows can slow it down to PIO mode.

The drives are set to UDMA.

                Here is an update:

I exchanged the drive for a 16x Pioneer DVR-710. Everything is working as it should.

                Thanks for the help,
