Can you convert the files one folder at a time?

In dbpoweramp configuration >> codecs >> advanced you can set how to handle flac errors, I am sorry to say your flac files look corrupted.

I did one track and got no error. The track I did was the one that previously yielded this error:

Error converting to mp3 (Lame), 'P:\Belle & Sebastian\Boy With The Arab Strap, The\09 - The Boy With The Arab Strap - Rock.flac' to 'Q:\iPod\Belle & Sebastian\Boy With The Arab Strap, The\09 - The Boy With The Arab Strap.mp3'

md5 did not match decoded data, file is corrupt.

I think this happens when EAC (or whatever other programs) put id3 tags in flacs and the encoder freaks out. The 1.1.3 flac command line encoder has a problem with this as well when doing flac to flac encodes (ie from 1.1.2 to 1.1.3 files.

check this thread for more detailed info:

when i find files with this problem, I use mediamonkey to re-encode flac to flac, then use the script in the thread above and/or dbpoweramp to do whatever I need done (doing replay/album gain primarily).

It shouldnt be the tags, id3v2 was once part of flac, and our decoder should read them ok.

Re: Errors converting FLAC to mp3 - HELP!!!

Hey, I've experienced the same problem mentioned in this thread just recently when converting flac to mp3 vbr. Between 2 and 5 tracks every album show up the error 'md5 did not match decoded data, file is corrupt.'

I tried converting errored tracks again individually but with the same error. Followed Spoon's advice and change the following setting

Corrupt Flac File - Continue Decoding (Show Error as Information)

Now the tracks convert, show no errors and where previously the errors would result in mp3s that were cut short, now the tracks I have checked so far seem to play fine all the way to the end.

Am i safe to leave this setting like this or will this cause other errors to be ignored and missed? I'm confused as to why this problewm occured very suddenly and is resolved changing this setting.

Any advice would very much be appreciated.
              Cheers

As a follow up, I have listened to an album which wouldn't convert before I changed the above setting and it is very jumpy where as the original flac is fine.

Can you recommend what the problem may be?

it simply means your file is corrupt.

there is no way to know how it got corrupt, but if the md5 doesn't match, then the file is basically junk and needs re-ripped.

in my experience, md5 errors are caused by drive errors, especially on external drives.

you could try run chkdsk to try to repair and prevent more errors, but any files which are already corrupted can't be fixed.

Nightmare, Thanks for clearing that up. I will try and figure why this is happening.

                    All the best!

I was having the exact same problem. I couldn't convert a few FLAC files to any other format (and my cd was beyond repair so I couldn't rip again), and I was getting the same errors you described. I was able to get Ashampoo Music Studio 3 to burn the FLAC files to a disc and then I could re-rip them.

The files you burnt had the errors, nothing can magically correct errors in FLAC files if the MD5 does not match.
