R12 Tag Editor Crashes Explorer

Hello,

After installing R12, I find that the Tag Editor constantly is crashing windows explorer. As this is an important feature, I will uninstall and revert to R11.5. I am running WinXP SP2.

Any ideas?

Confirmed that reverting back to R11.5 remedies this problem.

Which tag editor? right click >> Edit ID Tags, or right click >> properties >> id tags

I, too, have been experiencing crashes with the R12 tag editor. I've been manipulating MP3s created by R12. I get the errors using both "right click >> Edit ID Tags" and "right click >> properties >> id tags" -- it doesn't seem to matter which one. I'm using Win XP SP2. I'll try to keep track of what circumstances tend to cause the crashes and report them here.

It doesn't always crash on me, but once it does, it tends to crash a lot until I reboot again.

The crash reported brings down Explorer, if right click >> Edit ID Tag it should not bring down explorer (at least I think so).

For me, if I right click and edit tags -- on a single or multiple files at the same time.....it crashes and brings down explorer.....Explorer auto-restarts on my system (desktop icon/toolbar restart etc...). Just brinking up the Edit Tag menu itself will cause the crash -- I do not need to modify any attributes. In other words, once I right click and edit tags --- I can either edit fields or <cancel> out of the menu --- the point of the menu closing is exact time when Explorer crashes every time.

Not that it should matter, but all my audio files are on an external SMB share --- the R11.5 Tag editior doesn't care about this fact -- nor do I think it really should matter here. However, I have not tried the tag editor on R12 with the local file system. Just a little more info that may help.

I thought I was the only one with this problem and that I had a problem with both of my machines.
It's a relieve others have this problem also.

I also have the same problem as reported in posts # 460 & 462 here:

It happens when I edit tags using right click or properties.

Are these files on your local hard drive, a network drive, an external drive, a flash drive, or something else?
