    problems converting to mp3

    hi,

i'm got dbpoweramp music converter to rip cds to mp3s. whenever i try to convert to mp3s i get the following error: "codec compression error"... this happens about half way through the conversion. the conversion dies and then i'm left with a partial mp3, which will play up until the point that the conversion crashed. not sure what the issue is... any ideas? i'm using v11.5

You mean that happens half-way through ripping a cd or halfway through ripping the first track?

And are you using dMC Audio CD Inout or dMC alone?

What settings are you trying to use for the mp3's?

Any DSP effects applied automaticlaly to everything?

Are you using it while signed in as administrator?

Registered or unexpired trial version of the converter and powerpack?

If you rip to uncompressed wav instead, does it work?

Try using Audio CD input and rip to wave, if any messages please report the full message here.

no problems converting from a cd to wav.

when i convert from cd to mp3, i get the following:

          errors whilst converting:

          CODEC compression error.
          CODEC compression error.
          CODEC compression error.
          CODEC compression error.
          CODEC compression error.
          CODEC compression error.
          CODEC compression error.
          CODEC compression error.
          CODEC compression error.
          CODEC compression error.

obviously it's displays the error for each track.

i also get the same error when attempting to convert from wav to mp3.

thanks for your help!! again, sorry for the delay...

variable bitrate... min: 128Kbps, max: 320Kbps
              channels: stereo, frequency: 44100

i've tried using a constant bitrate with no luck either.

              thanks...

Is this error message for all of your CDs or just this one? If it is just this CD, what is the name of the CD?

It looks like maybe your mp3 codec is somehow corrupted.

There may be inteference with some other audio or even video software you have which may have modified the codec. Could you take some inventory?

i thought that might be the issue, so i replaced the lame codec with a fresh copy. i really don't have much other than nero, and even that was installed after i installed (and tried to get working) dbpoweramp.

Try the new R12 alpha in the beta section of this forum (the cd ripper for r12 is a major step forward).
