I am trying to convert a file, but I get a mess to go to Codec central and download the codec for .avi, but there isn't any. The file I am trying to convert is a winamp file.

dMC doesn't convert video, except to conver the audio in a .wmv file. You will have to use either Auxiliary Input (instructions below) or a program such as VirtuaDub to strip the audio from the video.Lt. Data

And "Winamp file" is kind of vague. Winamp likes to associate all media files as simply "Winamp files". use the directshow decoder plugin
