problem converting mp3 to mp3 with abr and 22khz sampling rate

i tried to convert some 22khz frequency 128kbit mp3 files to 64kbit mit abr.

but this resulted in the error:
The CODEC required to compress 'c:\whateverfile.mp3' could not be opened.
Error creating mp3 compressor, try different encoding frequency and bitrates.

after several other option i changed the sampling rate to 44khz and voila, everything worked.

strange enough, when using cbr i can also use a sampling rate of 22khz without any problem.

is this a normal behaviour (is abr only able to use 44khz?) or is this a bug?

Lame can be funny about bitrates / frequencies, I cannot comment on wether it is a bug or not (about to release a newly rewritten lame encoder that has been well tested), keep your eye on the r12 alpha thread.

      it should work fine

      try the lame.exe cli plugin
