    Uncompressed Wave, Log shows different

Hi, New here & confused on the following...
I've been ripping my collection to "Wave = Uncompressed" & just noticed the Log report shows this:

    Encoder: Wave -compression="PCM" -wavemp3="-b 320"

Why does it mention MP3 or 320 at all??

On my second computer the Log shows this (using same settings & 1 similar drive):

    Encoder: Wave -compression="PCM"

    Confusing...

Here's more details from my LG & Plextor drive on Comp 1) & 1x LG drive on Comp 2:::

Yes that's what I chose... the question is, why does the ENCODER line in the report say:

        Encoder: Wave -compression="PCM" -wavemp3="-b 320"

        and this:

        Encoder: Wave -compression="PCM"

        ???

It's very confusing & doesn't give confidence to move forward with hundreds of CD's... especially THIS: -wavemp3="-b 320

It reports the settings on the encoder page, which have the mp3 bitrate also, even though it is not used by the encoder in that instance.

Huh... Then why on my second computer, with the exact same settings, version 17.4 & LG drive show:

            Encoder: Wave -compression="PCM"

            ???

BTW, it's not just on the Report...

On the actual .wav properties ID-Tag, the ENCODER SETTINGS also show/match the same 2 discrepancies I posted.

Because on one computer you went in the mp3 settings page within Wave and chose a bit rate, that value will then stick on the compression settings. The other computer you must have never done that.

PCM is uncompressed, if it were writing mp3 then the files would be shown as Wave mp3 compressed if you hold the mouse over them and an average audio track would be 4MB, not 40MB as uncompressed is.

Ok... THAT was a helpful response!!

I did change the "Unused" MP3 settings on 1 pc & NOT on the other.
Just tested & your right, it does stick to whatever is set, even though not used.

It's strange but at least I understand what's happening. THANKS!!!

                One more unrelated...
On my W7 PC, the artwork converts to 800x800.
On my W10 PC, the artwork converts to 1000x1000.

I never changed anything after installing stock, any help/info would be cool??

                Thanks again!

Different defaults for different versions of CD Ripper when first installed.

You might be able to edit a setting or export settings from the registery to elimate the MP3 bit.

I just tried creating a new "WAVE" preset (setting all my other setting again), then not touching anything & the additional MP3 info about encoding on the report & file prefs disappeared... so back to normal PCM listed... I guess until I touch the other setting again. all good though. thx!
