Any point in ripping redbook CDs in DSD?

I'm assuming not, but you know what they say about assumptions....

    There would be little point.

I would be even stronger in response. There is NO point.* No value at all. Upsampling 16/44.1 files does NOT magically create additional audio information.

*I suppose if you had some very strange DAC that could only play files that were in DSD format. But this seems almost impossible.

OK, thanks for confirming I'm not a nitwit.

Which begs the next question: Is the DSD setting on the ripper, for SACDs?

        Thanks in advance.

Hi, Just purchased the version 17.1 of dBpoweramp and noticed a new option I don't recall seeing previously. The option to 'Rip to DSD'. So my question would be... if I have a Hybrid-SACD could I rip the SACD layer using my Blu-ray drive and dBpoweramp?

I really have no clue why rip to DSD exists. Can't be used for SACD layer. Nonsensical for ripping a redbook (16/44.1) CD. Are there non-SACD DSD discs that can be ripped? Maybe the audio tracks contained on some DVD disks can be ripped with this. Don't have any myself.
